Records of my "media diet" began mid-2009. A friend revealed to me his habit of keeping a list of movies he watched every year. With nothing much better to do, I took up this habit, keeping track of every movie I watched throughout the year. This endevor has sparked enlightening discussion and debate.
Not long after that, I was exposed to "Steven Soderbergh's media diet," which inspired me to expanded my movies-only list and to include other forms such as literature and television.
Since that time I've progressed through various trends, such as marking repeat viewings.
I began listing my seven favorite and least favorite films after being asked to. I choose seven each year because five is too few and ten is too many. Only first-viewings are eligible for entry into my favorite/least favorite lists. I cannot currently vouche for the choices that I had made in previous years.
Since past lists were only available through limited social media sites, I am now re-posting past lists.
It becomes difficult to decide on what is a "first viewing." Sometimes I forget I have already seen a movie. Sometimes I have already seen half of a movie beforehand.
